Does the wires used in temperate countries to transfer electricity use semiconductors?

In the national grid network, do they use special metal conductors to transfer electricity to one part to the other or do they use a semi conductor. I'm referring to HOT-AND HUMID climate countries like Malaysia, Brazil, Singapore, etc.
