Can I take out a personal loan?

I'm 18 years old. Currently a high school senior with no job. I want a personal loan for my summer expenses... Will I be able to take out a loan? How do they work? Do I have to offer/pay collateral or do payments start right away... What happens? HELP ME! Will I need a co-signer? I have limited credit history...
