If there can be an Arab Republic of Egypt, a Syrian Arab Republic, why not a Jewish State of Israel?

So people say Israel being recognized as a "Jewish State" would be "racist," or somehow subjugate non Jews in Israel, but then why are these same people OK with Egypt being officially the Arab Republic of Egypt, or Syria being the Syrian Arab Republic? Israel uses the term "Jewish State" as in the Jewish people, not Jewish religion.
